About the Inn of New Berlin

A place to get away from it all while staying close by......

Just down the road from Bucknell and Susquehanna Universities and a short drive to Penn State University and the city of Williamsport, The Inn of New Berlin is the perfect place to get away from it all while staying close by.  Built in 1906 by wealthy Philadelphia merchant, Jacob Schoch, as a summer home, this grand example of Queen Anne architecture has been a haven of rest and relaxation ever since.

Relax and Renew.....

While away the hours on our welcoming, wide front porch listening to the rhythmic clip-clop or horse's hooves as they pull Amish buggies down Market Street. Relax to the sound of church bells chiming well known hymns as bald eagles soar overhead. Enjoy the peaceful meandering of Penns Creek just blocks away, where some of the East coast's best fly fishing can be found!

Hike and Bike.....

If your tastes run to more vigorous activities, borrow a kayak from the inn and set sail on your own adventure. Plan a full or half day river adventure through one of our local guides where you can explore the islands of the Susquehanna River and meet their inhabitants. If land travel is more your style, the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail is located nearby with a 9.2 mile trail linking Lewisburg to Mifflinburg. Hiking and biking opportunities abound at R.B. Winter State Park and Bald Eagle State Forest.

Inspire and Indulge.....

If antiquing is your preferred exercise, you've come to the right place! The Emporium, just a block from the inn, features local antique vendors, as well as paying homage to New Berlin's German heritage by offering classes in German Feather Trees. Nearby Lewisburg is home to Rollermills Antique Mall, a restored flour mill with over 400 vendors. The Shops of the Point Barn in Northumberland houses antiques and collectibles in a 100 year old restored dairy barn. All of that shopping will surely give you an appetite, so stop by one of the many nearby restaurants for a bite. And if you've worked up a thirst, visit The Bull Run Tap House in Lewisburg for your choice of 46 different brews on tap. Old Forge Brewery in Danville or The Selin's Grove Brewpub can also help wet your whistle! If wine is more your cup of tea, the Central Susquehanna Valley is home to over 8 wineries where you can sample and purchase your favorite beverage.

After your busy day, let the candles in the windows of the Inn of New Berlin light your way back  where fresh baked cookies and a warm greeting will always welcome you home.
